Small Update:

I've been working on AI and Combat, currently AI seems to be in pretty good shape, considering that its still in early alpha.

Here is a small video demonstration about AI vs AI, it shows how NPC's are reacting to other NPC's attacks and movements .



Here is a small sample of hit detection that I'm using with my melee system



Green lines represents hitdetection lines that hit nothing. Red lines represents that your weapon hit something. Currently models are using only one collider but at some point there will be more colliders for different body parts.

This is UI where player controls following things:
- Unit building
- Building construction
- Diplomacy
- Armies / Parties


Cities

I've been working  on a citygenerator. Citygenerator uses modified BSP Dungeon Generation -technique to create cities.

Here is an examples of cities that it will produce.



Generator uses building templates to create appropriate buildings for different sized chunks of city.
There are ~150 different sized and shaped templates for buildings that will be used in city creation.

Small update

Hey and first of all sorry that I haven't updated blog for a while, I've been busy with my and social life.


It looks that Project Mahti is advancing to alpha stage soon. I've gathered many of my features to one small demo that is below this text.




Features in video:
  • Crafting/Buildings only
  • Inventory system
  • Basic combat
  • Basic AI
Currently I'm working to improve my melee combat system. Planned features for the next few build are customizable melee-attacks (Knockbacks, stuns, slows..) , advanced crafting, day/night cycle and simple NPCs.

Decoration-script






Here is screenshot how rooms are splitted in dungeons.



Every line represents a diameter of room. Every room has some kind of theme, like chapel, kitchen, office...

Script decorates  inner areas of room according the theme of room and different script decorates walls in rooms.

First post






So, I guess this is my first post. I've finally managed to get a grip of myself and I created this blog. This is something that I should've done long time ago.


"So, what is this about?"


Well, purpose of this blog is to showcase my game and the purpose of the game is to improve myself as a programmer. I've been programming for few months now and this is first game that may get finished if I have enough motivation.

What's the game about?

This game is fantasy-FPS-dungeon-crawling-RPG  ( Oh god, so big project for the first game :(  )
If I manage to finish the first phase, then I may add Mount&Blade like world map mode.

I haven't named this game yet, for now I'm calling it Project Mahti.

At the moment I'm working on a dungeon-generator. Currently I'm satisfied with dungeon layout and I'm planning decor -generator that decorates my dungeons. My dungeon's theme is castle at this point, but I'm planning to create new generators that will create caves, cities and MAYBE at some point it creates outdoor areas.

Anyway,  my short term goals for newt weeks are to get this decor-generator to work.
